Which arise mainly from the use of pesticides in the production of some of our raw materials used in our finished products, waste generation and resource use involved in packaging, greenhouse gas emissions from transport and from energy used in our manufacturing plants."
“Redwood Wholefoods is committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution. Redwood recognises that our business has some adverse impacts on the environment. In so doing we will regard environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice as setting the minimum standards of environmental performance. We will implement our policies through a coordinated environmental management system”. Each year Redwood sets its self objectives in to ways that the whole company can reduce our environmental impact, Redwoods objectives will always be clearly stated at the end of our environmental policy.
We will use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs and will invest in the improved energy efficiency of the products we sell. In 2010 a more efficient water boiler was purchased to conserve energy within the factory.
We will consider the environmental impact of our products at all stages, from design to final customer use and disposal. All products sourced are GMO free and are all Kosher approved. All organic products are approved by the Organic Food Federation. As part of Redwoods on going commitment to the environment Redwood foods has now started trading with the Fair Trade foundation and now stocks the first of there products.
We are Halal certified. We work to the British Retail Consortium standards and have achieved and maintained level A grade.
We will seek to address the impact on the environment through the adaptation of a sustainable procurement policy and aim to source ingredients and materials locally whenever possible. We will conserve resources through efficient use and careful planning and working with our suppliers.
Redwood have a new range of oils which have been sourced from British grown seeds. All of our ingredients are sourced as locally as possible or the safe stand ecologically efficient transport is used.
We recognise the need to use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible and subscribe to a policy of sustainable waste management.
At Redwood all of our paper, cardboard, and plastic waste are all recycled, we also recycle our waste oil.
We will seek to minimise waste and whenever possible recycle materials. We will dispose of waste through safe and responsible methods. Our waste disposal company issue a duty of care certificate
Through coordinating route planning and delivery schedules we will seek to reduce both fuel consumption and exhaust emissions to help reduce our carbon footprint.
We will conduct an annual self-evaluation of our performance in implementing these principles and in complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
